Being a parent is hard work – no doubt about it. But, it is the most rewarding work you’ll ever do in your life. You children look to you for insight and guidance, and, in return, they make you healthier. Really? Yes, really. Here’s how.
1. You eat better
When preparing family meals, your first thought is about nutrition, right? Of course it is! When you’re tasked with feeding your family, you want to prepare healthy, nutritious meals that are good for them and taste good. If you want your children to eat balanced meals, you have to eat them, too.
2. You cope better with stress
What’s more stressful than being a parent? If you said nothing, you’re correct! But, during your time as a parent, you’ve developed ways to cope with stress much better than you did before your bundle of joy arrived. You’ve learned to adapt, breathe, and laugh at most circumstances.
3. You’re more active
Children definitely keep parents on the move! From playing with your child to carrying them up to bed, you’re more active now than you were before they came along. Being silly with your children is definitely advantageous to your health! Singing, dancing, and laughing are what life is made of.
4. You develop a routine
Having a routine in place can make things far less stressful on both you and your children. Not having to guess what’s next all the time really does alleviate a lot of stress on your part. Your routine could be as simple as having dinner the same time every day or as complex as scheduling everything. It’s important to be spontaneous, however, so be sure to leave room for that, too!
5. You learn to love yourself
When you see your children happy and healthy, you feel proud of them and you because you’ve done that. A crucial part of being healthy is loving yourself and being a parent helps you learn to do that.
Go ahead; let your children keep you in good health. It’s important for you and for them that you remain healthy.
